My first day in school

This morning ever since the rooster crowed, my mother was busy preparing my little brother to go to his school. All the commodation in the house reminded me of my first day in school.

Eight years ago this was exactly what happened to me. My mummy was busy dressing me up. Dad was preparing breakfast. I sat on the floor doing nothing. All the while, my family members were as busy as bees because they were helping my parents to get me ready for school. As I was their only child that time both mum and dad were even more nervous than I was on my first day at school.

As soon as I reached my new school, all I could see was little children running here and there. Some were crying for their mother while others were hiding under their mother's skirts. The whole hall was filled with the noise of the children who were crying while their parents were chatting with one another and the teachers were trying to calm the children. Finally, after a long wait, we were divided into ten groups and we were sent to our respective classes. That was the worst moment for the children because all their parents have to leave their children to the care of the teachers. Many of the frightened children cried with all their might. The hall was filled with the cries of these children. I think I am proud to admit that I was the only little girl who did not cry at all.

I joined a class of 36 pupils. When my teacher and the children finally settled down, some of myclassmates were still crying and I played some fun games. I made some new friends. We played 'FollowThe Leader', 'A,E,I,O,U' and many other games. The ringing of the school bell at ten o' clock informed us that it was recess time. The school provided us with some milk and cookies and they were just simplydelicious. Everyone enjoyed the food. After eating our teacher taught us some songs and dances. We hadto change partner each time we sang and danced. By doing so we were better acquainted with ourclassmates. There was no more crying in class but anly laughter was heard.

Time flew! In just a twinkle of an eye it was already time for us to go home. Parents were waiting impatiently to pick their precious children. As for me, I did not cry at all. I was praised by my parents for being independent and brave. My first day in school was a very enjoyable experience.
